This review is from: Chicago Metallic Non-Stick Extra Large Roaster with Stainless Handles and Nonstick Rack, 17 by 12 by 3-Inch (Kitchen) I have an ancient gas stove whose oven will barely accommodate an 18-inch bakers half sheet pan. This item is listed as being 17 by 12 by 3-inches. However, the riveted handles protrude, making this pan effectively 19 inches long, and my oven door wouldn’t close. The quality looks excellent. I’m returning this pan and ordering the slightly smaller 13 by 9 by 2-1/4-inch by the same manufacturer. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Good, but despite being “dishwasher safe”, you may want to hand wash., By Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Chicago Metallic Non-Stick Extra Large Roaster with Stainless Handles and Nonstick Rack, 17 by 12 by 3-Inch (Kitchen) Does the job, nonstick is holding up ok…but looks like it’s developing a little rust on the logo and on the joints in the corner. This is a little distressing since it’s only a couple of months old. I have some smaller pans by the same manufacturer that have the same problem. The nonstick also doesn’t work perfectly. I usually line them with aluminum foil. 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful Not a good roasting pan, Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Chicago Metallic Non-Stick Extra Large Roaster with Stainless Handles and Nonstick Rack, 17 by 12 by 3-Inch (Kitchen) i needed a large non-stick roasting pan to roast vegetables & potatoes. this was just large enough (it was the largest non-stick pan I could find), and that’s what i use it for — i wouldn’t use it for anything else, nor would i recommend it for anything else. I’ve used it maybe 12 times .. the good – so far the non-stick surface seems to be very good, which is one feature i really needed .. time will tell how durable it is UPDATE # 2: I have now used this pan around 5 more times and have decided to simply throw it out .. the coating has come off along the inside bottom edges, it is rusting all over the place, etc etc .. in short this is a useless product .. do not buy it !! UPDATE: Avoid buying this pan if at all possible .. It’s now the end of Dec, 2012, and maybe I’ve used this pan 12 more times .. so now the non-stick finish is wearing off in spots, and since the pan is steel, it rusts if not wiped dry right after washing .. and the food is starting to stick in places where the non-stick surface has not worn off yet .. I would return it under warranty, but what for?? the replacement would be just as miserably made.. its obvious this company does not make decent products anymore the bad .. the construction is flimsy, and the gauge of metal used needs to be at least 50%, if not 100%, thicker; the handles wobble in and out when there’s something in the pan because they are attached at only two points (rather than 3) – i would not be surprised if they twisted out of the pan completely if there was something heavy in it – like a turkey (I would never advise using this to cook a turkey or anything at all heavy); the pan buckles and deforms in oven heat; the folded corners are not sealed, so they wick up a tiny amount of the olive oil I use when roasting my vegetables — after the pan is cleaned and stored, this then falls to the bottom of the pan in the corners, so you have to dab it up to clean the pan completely (if you don’t, the oil will turn rancid over time). see Update above — do not buy this pan .. so if you need a large non-stick roasting pan to roast vegetables & potatoes (or equiv), this is just OK .. it will just work |
